President Obama announced yesterday that the government plans to buy up 17,600 American-made hybrid and fuel-efficient cars for the federal fleet, reports the Washington Post. In addition to being a way to get some more money to the automakers, the plan will boost the efficiency of the government fleet by at least 10%, saving 1.3 million gallons of gas a year. "On the big scale," though, says an analyst, "no, that's not going to change anyone's bottom line."
GM’s Chevy Malibu, Saturn Aura, and Ford’s Hybrid Fusion should be at the top of the list, says the Detroit Free Press.
