New York Jets running back Thomas Jones suffered a leg injury during a preseason practice yesterday. Jones, recently nabbed from Chicago to solidify the Jets' backfield, planted his right foot awkwardly during a training routine and fell to the field, where a trainer attended to him. The Jets did not release details of the injury.

Though Jones did not return to the playing field, he was able to stretch and move around on the sidelines with his right leg heavily wrapped. New York next squares off against Minnesota August 17,  though head coach Eric Mangini has not said whether Jones will take part in the preseason action. (More Thomas Jones stories.)
