The chill between Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin is thawing, but the same can’t be said for Johnston and his babymama’s parents: Todd Palin offered, more than once, to buy Bristol a car if only she’d dump Levi. That tidbit, as well as the revelation that Johnston is capable of stringing together entire sentences, emerges in an upcoming GQ profile of the teen, New York magazine reports.

Johnston, who estimates he has “as much fishing, camping, and hunting experience of anybody [his] age in the country, if not more,” spends most of his time these days with a PI named Tank, thanks to the fact that his other friends have been talking to the tabloids. He has exchanged flirty text messages with Bristol, but getting back together is “not even in” his mind. (More Bristol Palin stories.)
