Wilson studied 500 drinkers at the behest of a bar chain, and discerned a series of notable types. Among them: The gossip: Will hold a wineglass by the bowl, often gesticulating with it or leaning over it to impart some morsel. The fun-lover: Convivial social drinkers, fun-lovers tend to hold a bottle loosely by its shoulder. The wallflower: Holds the glass protectively, palms hidden. The glass is often used as a social crutch, and is never quite finished.
