5 Truly Awful Albums

Israeli researchers have created the sonic phenomenon of a black hole that kills sound. Which, of course, led Scott Thill of Wired to whip up a list of five atrocious albums he'd like to toss into the newly made void.

• Scream, Chris Cornell: With nary an actual scream on the entire album, this effort by the former Soundgarden singer is a mash-up of producer Timbaland's "Muzak beats" and lyrics that "seem to have fallen out of Kanye West’s back pocket."

• Music for the People, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch: It's ridiculous this rocked the charts instead of works by contemporaries De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest.
• Inspiration, William Hung: There's zero reason to listen to this "steaming pile of covers," which features the infamous rendition of Ricky Martin's "She Bangs."
• Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, various artists: And when it comes to covers, the attempts at recreating these songs—by everyone from the Bee Gees to Steve Martin—on the film soundtrack of the same name were "simply terrible."
• Chinese Democracy, Guns N' Roses:  Throw together Rose and a rag-tag group of artists and producers, overcharge customers, create mediocre music, and you have this album.
