Among the more notable events in today's sendoff to Michael Jackson was the public emergence of his three children—Prince Michael Jr., 12, Paris Michael Katherine, 11, and Prince Michael II, 7. Their father, one of the most photographed men in history, made it a point to shield images of his kids from the public, notes the Los Angeles Times. But today they emerged front and center, with Paris' unscripted and emotional farewell a high point.

As the three children came on the stage with the rest of the family near the end of the service, Paris watched over her younger brother and clung to her aunt Janet. Then she stepped to the microphone. "I just wanted to say, ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine," she said, fighting back tears. "And I just wanted to say I love him. So much." (More Michael Jackson stories.)
