Mischa Barton in Psychiatric Lockdown

OC star Mischa Barton was removed from her Hollywood home by police and placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold last night, reports Access Hollywood. A spokesman for the British-born actress confirmed that she will miss the premiere of her new movie Homecoming in New York tonight because of medical treatment.

By law, an individual can be held involuntarily in a psychiatric ward for 72 hours if she presents a danger to herself or others, is gravely disabled or suffers from a mental disorder. Britney Spears was held twice earlier this year under the same law. Barton's appearance has changed radically recently; friends told the Daily Mail that her face became bloated after her wisdom teeth were removed and she reacted badly to antibiotics.
