Ron Paul is disappointed in everybody, Politico reports. President Obama “became the peace candidate: ‘Yeah, we’re going to end that war in Iraq,’” the Texas congressman and erstwhile presidential candidate says. “But it’s not sincere.” And though Republican opposition to Obama’s spending plans has lent the libertarian cheerleader some establishment legitimacy, “they don't call me in and say, ‘What we need to find out from you is how you reach the young people.’"

Paul doubts he’ll run for president again, but he complains that supporters of potential candidates like Mitt Romney lack his base’s zeal. If Romney’s “people aren't energized, our guys might stand for three of his." Paul might not need to run, anyway; some of his ideas are gaining ground with Democrats, many of whom have signed on to his measure to audit the Federal Reserve.
