Bears linebacker Lance Briggs has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident after police found a wrecked and abandoned 2007 Lamborghini Murcielago yesterday on an Illinois highway. Briggs, 26, admitted he abandoned the car, posted $100 bond, and will appear in court in October to face the misdemeanor charge, the Tribune reports.

Officials also cited Briggs for improper lane usage and failure to immediately notify police of a crash; they said they found no evidence of alcohol at the scene. Briggs also made headlines this summer with his brief threat to hold out on training camp; the Bears appeased him with a $7.2 million check for the upcoming season. (More Chicago Bears stories.)
