Organic Food Won't Make You Any Healthier: UK Scientists

Organic food has no health benefits compared to ordinary food, according to a report commissioned by the UK’s Food Standards Agency. Reseachers looked at 55 studies on the subject from the past 50 years, and concluded that the differences, where they existed, weren’t particularly significant from a public-health standpoint. But sustainable-food advocates say the research is faulty, the BBC reports.

“This study does not mean that people should not eat organic food,” said an FSA official. “What it shows is that there is little, if any, nutritional difference.” But the Soil Association’s policy director complains that researchers rejected many comparative studies on the subject, and says there hasn’t been enough data on the long-term effects of pesticides on humans.
