Sarah Palin came out swinging on Facebook last night, responding to criticism of her infamous “death panels” comment in a 1,000-word, point-by-point rebuttal, complete with footnotes. There’s only one problem, notes Cajun Boy on Gawker: “There’s no way in hell Sarah Palin wrote it.” Why not? It's completely cogent, linear, packed with actual information. The piece argues that the end-of-life consultations provided for, while voluntary, are alarming in the context of a bill aiming to cut costs.
"Is it any wonder," she asks, "that senior citizens might view such consultations as attempts to convince them to help reduce health care costs by accepting minimal end-of-life care?" Gawker smells a ghostwriter. “Whoever composed this particular note is everything that Sarah Palin is not: thoughtful, patient, dedicated, thorough, and rational.” Not only that, but the piece is “completely devoid of references to God, the troops, the liberal media, Alaska, Ronald Reagan, her baby with Down Syndrome, or a hilariously painful attempt to channel her inner Jack London with some great poetic flourish.”
