The Mets had the chance last night to avoid their fourth loss in four days, with the tying run on third in the ninth inning. But then pinch-hitter Marlon Anderson slid off the base path and into Phillies second baseman Tadahito Iguchi, who was sent sprawling. Anderson was called out for interference as part of a game-ending double play.

Oliver Perez was charged with the loss for the Mets, while Jamie Moyer claimed the win. The victory pushed Philadelphia to three games behind the Mets, who have lead the NL East since May. Tonight, Mets ace Orlando Hernandez will fight to extend his win streak to 10 and keep the Phillies from sweeping the four-game series. (More New York Mets stories.)
