After years of sibling rivalry that often escalated into brawls, guitarist Noel Gallagher quit the band Oasis today, the BBC reports, and blamed brother Liam. “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight,” Noel, who’s 6 years older than Liam, 36. “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”
The band has cancelled several recent appearances over reports of fighting between the brothers, and three weekend shows, including tonight’s, were called off. “Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan,” Noel Gallagher added on MySpace.
