Bipartisan Crew Fetes 'Teddy'

Politicians from both parties joined family and friends tonight in Boston, the Globe reports, to remember Sen. Ted Kennedy, who died Tuesday at 77. He was “the best ally you could have,” said Republican John McCain; GOP colleague Orrin Hatch said they were “like two fighting brothers.” Added Massachusetts Democrat John Kerry of the time since Kennedy was diagnosed with brain cancer last summer: “This time, these last months, were a gift for all of us.”

The service, with Kennedy’s casket on a podium in an auditorium at John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, also featured Vice President Joe Biden and Kennedy’s niece Caroline, who thanked the attendees “for the gifts of Teddy you have given to us.” Kennedy’s funeral is tomorrow morning in Boston; he’ll be buried in the evening at Arlington (Va.) National Cemetery.
