Police Search House Next to Garrido's

Investigators have added an extra day to their search of the backyard prison where Jaycee Lee Dugard spent 18 years after finding new evidence yesterday that needed further examination, reports the Contra Costa Times. The investigation has also extended to an adjacent home that neighbors say Phillip Garrido cared for while it was vacant.

"We know Phillip Garrido had access to the property," said a sheriff's office spokesman, who noted that the home's current resident is not a suspect. "It looks like he lived in a shed on that property." Using chainsaws, shovels, and cadaver-sniffing dogs, some 20 police combed the backyard and neighboring area yesterday. Police declined to say whether the new evidence was related to several prostitute killings in the area a decade ago.
