By reaching down below his status to talk to the press and by reaching out to powerful Washington media pundit Tim Russert, to fix a problem he couldn't fix, Scooter just blew it. In the end he got convicted for badly executed PR, and not what Wolff calls "the Martha Stewart breach of legal etiquette" (lying to the grand jury and the FBI) that got him indicted.
