The Denver shuttle bus driver who may or may not be a terrorist with al-Qaeda links has been taken into custody by federal authorities, the Denver Post reports. Najibullah Zazi and his father were arrested late tonight, but the charges weren't immediately known. The FBI had questioned Zazi on three consecutive days—apparently in connection with a plot to coordinate a massive homemade bomb attack in New York City—before he abruptly refused to participate in a fourth round this morning.

Authorities were preparing to file charges unrelated to terrorism, such as lying to investigators, in an apparent bid to keep Zazi in custody while the terror investigation unfolds, notes the New York Times. The 24-year-old Afghan native, who has lived in the US since he was a teenager, told the Denver newspaper today that the terror allegations against him were ludicrous. But an anonymous intelligence adviser told the Times that Zazi received bomb-making training in Pakistan, where his wife lives.
