The Yankees wrapped up a sweep of the Twins tonight in Minneapolis, getting homers from Jorge Posada and suddenly clutch Alex Rodriguez in a 6-1 win. They advance to face the Angels, who mounted an unlikely ninth-inning comeback this afternoon, scoring off Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon three times and hanging on for a 7-6 victory and their own sweep in Boston.

Papelbon had not allowed an earned run in 27 postseason innings, but after he walked Torii Hunter to pitch to Vladimir Guerrero with the bases loaded, that string snapped. The Dodgers, who completed a sweep of the Cardinals last night at Busch Stadium, will play the winner of the Philadelphia-Colorado series. Tied at a game apiece, it picked up again tonight after the weather in Denver postponed last night's game. (More Boston Red Sox stories.)
