The Auschwitz death camp—now a museum about the horrors that transpired there—has joined Facebook. Officials hope to educate young people about the Holocaust but say they are sensitive to concerns about trivializing the site's history. "We want it to be a place of discourse, but of course we won't let anyone do anything that may abuse the memory of the victims and this place,” said a museum official.

"If our mission is to educate the younger generation to be responsible in the contemporary world, what better tool can we use to reach them than the tools they use themselves?" The page includes a discussion board, notes BBC, with the first topic being whether Auschwitz belongs on Facebook.
