Even as the US develops renewable-energy sources and cars that don’t need gas, it’s important to recognize that petroleum will be a part of our lives for some time, writes Sarah Palin. Environmentalists who oppose domestic drilling should consider that many of the countries we import from don’t have or don’t enforce environmental protection laws—laws US drilling operations would follow. “In effect, American environmentalists are preventing responsible development here at home while supporting irresponsible development overseas,” Palin writes for the National Review.
