WTC Victims' Families Grieve All Over Again

Many of those affected by the 9/11 attacks are still burying loved ones as remains are found and slowly identified, making closure hard to achieve, the Boston Globe reports. "How many times are you going to bury somebody?" asks the widow of a man killed in the World Trade Center. Others have the opposite problem, struggling to accept death without remains.

The New York medical examiner's office has identified about 59% of those presumed killed, but 22,000 separate body parts have been recovered. The lack of identifiable remains can make it difficult to move on. Says one victim's mother: "Being a mom—and I know it sounds ridiculous—but I hope he has amnesia somewhere, and he's still alive."
