Clinton to Dems: 'The Worst Thing to Do Is Nothing'

Bill Clinton pounded Democratic senators on health-care reform today, telling them that passing a bill this year is imperative. “Just pass the bill, even if it’s not exactly what you want,” Clinton said. “When you try and fail, the other guys write history. … The worst thing to do is nothing.”

Rhode Island’s Sheldon Whitehouse tells Politico that Clinton pointed to anti-reform protest as a sign the Democrats are on the right track. “The reason the teabaggers are so inflamed is because we are winning,” he quoted Clinton as saying. The former president also used much of the hour-long session reminding the Democrats of the economic and health costs of further delay, Time notes.
