House Democrats got their health care package through, but not before selling women down the river (again) by "restricting access to abortion in unprecedented ways," complains Kate Harding in Salon. The latest betrayal is just more evidence that it's time for women to dump the Dems, "who act exactly like Republicans did before their party moved so far right it landed on a different planet," she fumes. Democrats not only bargain with abortion rights, a key issue to their staunch supporters, but denigrate women who get all "fluttery" about it, notes Harding.

"Don't you want poor people to have insurance, you selfish bitches?" is how Harding characterizes the typical attitude. "Such men assume that we just don't get it, because if we did, we'd shut our big mouths," she adds. "There's only one logical conclusion: This is not our party. Progressive women have finally had enough. Are Democrats ready to try getting elected without us?"
