Amanda Knox: Murder Charges 'Pure Fantasy'

Amanda Knox dismissed the idea that she killed roommate Meredith Kercher as "pure fantasy" in court today. Speaking in fluent Italian after prosecutors rested their case and asked for a life sentence, Knox declared that "Meredith was my friend. I didn't hate her." Fighting tears, she added, "Everything that has been said these last two days is pure fantasy. It's not true, I have to insist on this and that's all I want to say. Thank you."

Prosecutors also asked for a life sentence for Knox's boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito. They argued that the pair, along with a third man already convicted, killed Kercher amid "sexual violence," reports Sky News. The lead prosecutor called Knox "narcissitic, angry, aggressive, manipulative, transgressive, theatrical, and easily given to disliking people she disagreed with or did not follow her ideals." The defense begins its final arguments next week.
