It’s been almost two years since John Edwards ended his presidential bid, but his campaign still managed to rack up $43,574 in legal fees last month, thanks to the ongoing fallout from the Rielle Hunter revelations. And that’s not even half the $96,000 the not-exactly-defunct campaign spent in October, including $4,000 for travel and $15,000 for salary for its ex-CFO, Politico reports.

Though Edwards pulled out of the race in January 2008, the campaign is still active, with $3 million on hand, according to FEC filings. The filings don’t state exactly what legal services Edwards got for his money, but they likely related to Hunter—Edwards is under federal investigation to see if he illegally paid her to keep quiet about their affair.
