The Salahis have finally gotten a real invite to a high-brow Washington event—a Congressional hearing into their infamous party crashing. Surely, the Salahis shouldn’t have been allowed to slip in—it shows a Secret Service “with glaring—and chilling—vulnerabilities and liabilities,” writes Maureen Dowd in the New York Times. “But if Congress investigates social climbing and party crashing in Washington, it won’t have time for anything else.”
“Washington has always been a town full of poseurs, arrivistes, fame-seekers, cheaters and camera hogs,” Dowd writes. “Even the outrage over the fakers is fake.” Washingtonians are constantly trying to crash parties, milk their connections, and rub elbows with the powerful. “Barack Obama is the ultimate party crasher. … He crashed the snooty age-old Washington party of privileged white guys with a monopoly on power.” (More Maureen Dowd stories.)
