Gunman loyal to a Philippine Muslim clan clashed with cops in the first outbreak of violence since a southern province was placed under martial law. No one was injured when gunmen opened fire on police commandos patrolling Datu Unsay township, reports AP. But officials are demanding some 2,400 gunmen who support the clan to surrender. Leaders of the powerful Ampatuan clan were arrested in the election massacre of 57 people last month.
