Tiger Woods’ favorable rating in a weekend poll is just 33%, down from 85% the last time he was rated—June 2005—in the most precipitous decline since Gallup began tracking the metric in 1992. “The drop is definitely unprecedented,” a Gallup editor tells USA Today, particularly considering “for many years, Woods was the most positively rated person.” Tiger’s high-to-low margin, 55%, is equal to that of George W. Bush’s.

Wood’s now “ranks worse than a lot of the politicians we measure,” the Gallup editor continues. And those are just his favorables—his unfavorable rating has skyrocketed from a measly 8% in 2005 to 57% today. In the breakdown, women disapprove of Tiger more than men by a margin of 8 points, and well-educated and older people have the worst opinion of him and his recently revealed transgressions, with more than 70% disapproving.
