Chris Henry of the Cincinnati Bengals is on life support in a Charlotte, NC, hospital after suffering "life-threatening injuries" in a domestic dispute yesterday, Fox Sports reports. The 26-year-old wide receiver climbed into the back of a pickup truck being driven by his fiancée and, as "the domestic situation continued between the operator and Mr. Henry," police said, he some point "came out of the back of the vehicle." It was unclear whether he fell or was forced out of the truck, the Charlotte Observer reports; he was found in the road about 8 miles north of downtown Charlotte.
Cincinnati drafted Henry in the third round of the 2005 draft out of West Virginia. He was in virtually nonstop legal trouble for the next 2½ years, but recently appeared to have straightened out. "We ask everyone to pray for Chris," Henry's agents said in a statement. "We also ask that you respect the privacy of Chris’ family. Chris is indeed battling for his life tonight, and our thoughts and prayers are with him during this extremely difficult time."
