The current season of VH1's Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew wraps up this weekend, and at least one participant is glad to be rid of his association with the good doctor. "It was immediately apparent that while Drew may be an astounding drug and alcohol specialist, he knows very little, or anything, about the precise science of sex addiction," film director Duncan Roy says of Dr. Drew Pinsky. "The therapy was mind-blowingly good if I ignored Drew, who just irritated me."
Drew would "founder" when issuing advice, then "recycle" the lines of the real sex therapist on the show, Jill Vermeire. "In the edited broadcasts, we see her thoughts and insights come out of Drew’s mouth," Roy writes for the Daily Beast. "It comes as no surprise that Drew writes about narcissism because he genuinely wrestles with his own." Roy also says many of his fellow show participants, particularly the women, seemed less than genuine and hammed it up at the whims of their agents or the show's producers.
