A British hostage has been released more than two years after he was captured in Iraq, the BBC reports. IT consultant Peter Moore, kidnapped in May 2007 by militants disguised as police in Baghdad, is “absolutely delighted” after years of “misery, fear, and uncertainty,” says Britain’s foreign secretary. “I'm breaking down, I'm just so overjoyed for the lad,” says his father.

Four others were captured at the time, including three bodyguards who were killed and a security guard believed to be dead. “The joy and relief that will be felt by Peter's family will be mirrored by the continuing anguish of the family of Alan McMenemy, the last of the five men taken hostage,” says Foreign Minister David Miliband. Moore was working for an American management consultancy when he was taken hostage.
