If Elvis Presley were alive to celebrate his 75th birthday today, he'd probably be singing gospel, says former wife Priscilla. "That's where his roots began and would probably end," she tells the Memphis Commercial Appeal. But even he'd be shocked at Elvis-mania: "Never in his life would he have thought that there would still be that level of interest in him."
She, too, thinks it's "mind-boggling," but offers this explanation: "He the package deal.He had the looks, the physique, the voice, those dreamy eyes. You can see why women all over the world fell in love with him." All kinds of events will commemorate the day, including two exhibits at the Smithsonian. (More Elvis Presley stories.)
