The GOP should give no quarter to President Obama and congressional Democrats on domestic issue, but the fight against terror's a different story, writes Daniel Henninger. Obama has some serious people—including Robert Gates, Mike Mullen, and Leon Panetta—on his national-security team and the GOP should stay the course with them, especially since Obama's own party may waver, Henninger writes in the Wall Street Journal.
The Democrats showed how not to do things by constantly attacking the Bush anti-terror program after 9/11 and showing al-Qaeda that America was divided over its own security. Creating a "GOP-Obama entente" on terror will be in the country's best interests, he writes, and gives Republicans "a chance to show the Democrats, and the American people, how a responsible opposition handles national security and foreign policy. The price of not giving this president more support than he gave George W. Bush is to let all the stone killers the jihadis can create over the next three years think they've got a shot."
