Ex-president Albero Fujimori was extradited today to Peru, where he will face charges related to death-squad killings during his administration's fight against a Maoist uprising, the AP reports. Fujimori seemed unconcerned, touting the “legal armor”—he can only be tried on the two rights charges and five corruption charges specified in the extradition.

Facing life in prison, Fujimori called the charges politically motivated and promised a return to power. “Fujimorismo is alive and now it must have more adrenaline,” he said, noting the landslide election of his daughter to Peru's congress. Fujimori, president from 1990-2000, was detained in Chile in 2005 on his attempted return to Peru to mount a political comeback. (More Alberto Fujimori stories.)
