Hillary Clinton and Tim Geithner gamely made the talk show rounds today, reports Politico, but the foreign policy and economic views gathering buzz were those being espoused by Sarah Palin over at Fox News Sunday. The onetime would-be veep said it would be "absurd" for her not to consider a run for the White House, called for the heads of Rahm Emanuel and Eric Holder, and had a little re-election advice for President Obama: "Play the war card" and declare war on Iran to improve your chances in 2012. Palin refused to say Rush Limbaugh should apologize for his use of the word "retard," categorizing it as satire.
Elsewhere on the Sunday dial:
- Geithner had a message for those singing the economic blues: Remember how bad it was a year ago. The Treasury secretary made the point to This Week at least five times.
- Those GOP leaders criticizing the White House's handling of the Detroit bomber weren't so worried about his constitutional rights when briefed Christmas night, White House counterterror chief John Brennan told Meet the Press. "They didn't say, 'Is he going into military custody? Is he going to be Mirandized?'"
- North Korea and Iran have yet to unclench their fists, Clinton told State of the Union, adding, however, that “engagement has brought us a lot in the last year.” Politico notes that Clinton had a slip of the tongue, referring to Iran as a "nuclear-armed country."
