Alex Rodriguez could join Alfonso Soriano at the heart of a monster Cubs lineup next season: ESPN reports that A-Rod's agent, Scott Boras, is brokering a deal with future Cubs owners that could net the star $300 million over 10 years. The Yanks will need to act fast if they want to keep their star slugger — A-Rod can opt out of his contract about a week after the World Series. The Yanks will try to keep A-Rod despite his up-and-down 4 years in pinstripes, sources say: His bat has kept them in the playoff hunt and, if he departs, the Yanks will miss a $29-million payment from the Rangers.
