Mitt Romney's early lead in the GOP race for New Hampshire has evaporated; Rudy Giuliani is now in a dead heat with the former Massachusetts governor in a new CNN-University of New Hampshire poll. Though Giuliani has been the nationwide frontrunner, Romney had a 14-point lead in NH in July. Now, 25% of likely Granite State voters  say they're planning to pick Romney,  24% Giuliani.

Sen. John McCain, meanwhile, seems to be making a resurgence, picking up 6 points since July to come in third. He leads Fred Thompson, who's at 13%. Thompson wasn't an official candidate in July, but his announcement earlier this month that he was entering the race didn't affect his poll numbers at all. The other five candidates combined for a mere 8%. (More New Hampshire stories.)
