Entertainment / film Don't Let Your Cash Get Stolen Recommended only for Jon Hamm die-hards By Nick McMaster, Newser Staff Posted Mar 12, 2010 6:25 PM CST Copied Don't Let Your Cash Get Stolen The trailer for 'Stolen'. (MegaFullMovies) Stolen, in which finds Mad Men star Jon Hamm in a mystery involving the search for two missing children, is getting panned by most critics. "First-time feature director Anders Anderson brings nothing to the table in terms of style or modulation," writes Noel Murray for the Onion. "Hamm is unable to do much with his underwritten role," writes Frank Scheck for the Hollywood Reporter, while co-star James Van Der Beek "sports some of the worst old-age makeup in memory in the present-day sequences," Lou Lumenick adds in the New York Post. Lisa Schwarzbaum is the film's harshest critic, noting that "It's a toss-up as to what's the worse sin in this graceless piece of tragedy porn: building a lurid drama around the fictional abduction and death of two little boys 50 years apart," she writes for Entertainment Weekly, "or encouraging viewers to luxuriate in the handsomeness of the two actors who play the boys' weeping and wailing fathers in scenes of high phoniness."
