A Malaysian minister has called for an investigation into child marriages after an 11-year-old bride ended up in a hospital suffering from shock. The girl was snatched from her home by a 41-year-old man who had received permission from her parents to marry her, reports AP. She was later found dazed and abandoned outside a mosque.

Women's Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil called the incident "reckless and irresponsible." Men must receive special permission from an Islamic court to marry girls under the age of 16 in the Muslim nation, a protocol ignored in this case. (More child brides stories.)
