Martha Stewart: Domestic goddess, business magnate, stalker? Sort of, if her ex-best friend is to be believed. In a new tell-all, Mariana Pasternak recalls Stewart’s desperate attempts to find a new husband, the New York Post reports. “Each time she met a man she liked, Martha heard wedding bells, and each time she suffered indignities and disappointment,” writes Pasternak, who parted ways with Stewart after testifying against her in her obstruction of justice trial.
Stewart “had a surprising flexibility when it came to bedding down with a just-met mate,” and “could be as naïve as a little girl with men,” Pasternak writes in The Best of Friends: Martha and Me, recalling one instance when a wealthy businessman stopped returning Stewart’s calls. “Each unanswered phone call ratcheted up her obsession. We spent entire East Hampton weekends hunting down The Mogul,” she writes, only to find themselves at his front door, face to face with his new girlfriend.
