The findings, published in Circulation, add to a body of research that suggests erectile dysfunction may signal other health problems. The message to patients: "If somebody has erectile dysfunction, we really need to treat them," one doctor says.
The challenge, researchers say, is getting men being treated for impotence to undergo further tests. "The medication works and the patient doesn't show up anymore," one doctor tells ABC. "These men are being treated for the ED, but not for the underlying cardiovascular disease."
