Country guitarist Lou Rogers has survived to play another day after spending four days in a car stuck in a snowbank. The 67-year-old was taking a shortcut down the remote Gold Creek Road on his way to a gig in Idaho on Thursday when his car became trapped. His cell phone had no signal and his multiple health problems meant the 9-mile walk back through rough country wasn't an option, Rogers says.
Rogers, who has played with big names including Merle Haggard and George Jones, says he was weak, losing hope, and had already penned a farewell letter when an Idaho couple came past on Sunday in their four-wheel-drive vehicle. They brought him to a nearby town where he received medical attention, and a local tow-truck driver went back to tow out his Cadillac for free. "He said I owe him a song," Rogers told the Daily Inter Lake. (More Lou Rogers stories.)
