Michael Steele doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with the RNC web site’s current front page, which shows Nancy Pelosi surrounded by flames next to the headline, “FIRE PELOSI.” Asked in a CBS interview if he thought the page was “a little bit extreme,” he replied, “Actually, I tamed it down. … I don’t know why you’re surprised. Nancy Pelosi is the architect of the demise of one-sixth of our economy.”

The site aims to raise money in an attempt to take control of the House, hence displacing displace Pelosi as speaker. “She should be fired for her failure to serve the interests of the American people,” Steele argued, saying she and the administration “thumbed their nose at the American people over the last year—countless town halls, Tea Party events. … Their arrogance knows no bounds.” (More Michael Steele stories.)
