A furious British businessman yesterday blasted his conviction for attacking an armed burglar with a bat, even though his 30-month jail term was reduced to 12-months suspended sentence and he got out of jail after just a month. “The justice system has failed us," said Munir Hussain, who was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm to a thief after a masked gang tied him and his family up and ransacked their home. His brother also was sentenced to 39 months.
A judge upheld convictions of the two men, 52 and 35, but reduced their sentences, and dropped charges against a 20-year-old brother. After Hussain managed to free himself, he and his brother raced after one the burglars and attacked him with a cricket bat, fracturing his skull and causing brain damage. The thief was sentenced to two years supervision. He had more than 50 previous criminal convictions, reports the Telegraph.
