A June Engagement for Wills?

Royal wedding watch continues, and it looks like Prince William may finally announce his engagement to Kate Middleton on June 3 or 4. A source tells the Daily Beast those days are blocked out on palace diaries, probably for just such an announcement. The wedding would then most likely be held in November—partially to avoid invoking the specter of Charles and Diana’s July wedding.

For the same reason, 27-year-old Wills and 28-year-old Kate will likely not be married at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Another possibility, St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, might bring back too many memories of Charles’ second wedding. Westminster Abbey is a frontrunner, but could prove to be too grand. The one similarity to Charles and Diana’s wedding: Once again, the country’s mood is grim, and a royal wedding will provide a welcome distraction.
