Disney blitzed the weekend box office with The Game Plan, a PG comedy that outscored Universal's geopolitical shoot-'em-up, The Kingdom, $22.7 million to $17.7 million. They held a near-tie until Game Plan pulled away with a 63% increase on Saturday and Sunday. Variety reports that a third wide opening, The Feast of Love, served up just $1.7 million on 1,200 screens and didn't make the top 10.

Comedy also ruled with specialty pics, as The Darjeeling Limited garnered the best average per screen at $70,000. The Fox Searchlight flick grossed $140,000 on 2 NY screens after debuting at Gotham's film festival on Friday. Ang Lee's erotic spy pic, Lust, Caution, rated NC-17, had one of the best per-screen averages ever at an exclusive NY run. (Read more The Rock stories.)
