The governor of Wisconsin has reassured sex education teachers that they won't be prosecuted after a local Republican district attorney warned they could face charges for contributing to the delinquency of minors. "It's really an unusual argument to make, 'Follow the law and I'll prosecute you,'" Gov. Jim Doyle told the Wisconsin State Journal. They're not going to be brought up on charges "no matter what the views of one particular district attorney are."

But the county district attorney is sticking to his guns that a new law establishing a broader sex education program in the state is illegal. Scott Southworth, a Christian evangelist, said teaching contraceptive use would be promoting sex among minors who are not legally allowed to have sex in Wisconsin. "Listen, there's a real problem with the law," he said. "I didn't pick the fight. The Legislature dumped it in my lap." (More Scott Southworth stories.)
