Most teens don't shop for their prom dress at Walgreens. Then again, Elizabeth Rasmuson won't look like most teens at her prom. The Iowa junior will be sporting a gown handmade from gum wrappers on the big night. "I heard about somebody making a dress out of duct tape or something one time so I just was like what's something cool and I've always liked the colors of the 'Five' gum," says Rasmuson, in very teenage speak.
She made a jacket from the wrappers last year, then got inspired to make the dress; boyfriend Jordan Weaver will wear a matching vest. The two started collecting specific colors in August, giving gum out to friends to chew and then collecting the wrappers; they lost track of just how many they had after hitting 200, reports KIMT. Will this be her last gum garment? Says Rasmuson, "They just came out with a new "Five" gum which is black..."
