Eric Holder officially announced the arrest of suspected would-be Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad today, saying he'd be charged with “an act of terrorism transcending national borders” and “attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction” among other things. He described the incident as “terrorist plot aimed at murdering Americans.” But so far Shahzad seems to be cooperating with his interrogators; Holder said he was “providing us with useful information.”

The Attorney General spoke at a press conference alongside Janet Napolitano, deputy FBI director John Pistole, and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly. Holder stressed that the investigation wasn't over, and said the FBI is still trying to determine if the suspect had help, or was affiliated with any terrorist groups. Shahzad is currently being held in Manhattan, and will appear in court later today, USA Today reports. (More Faisal Shahzad stories.)
