Second-ranked USC had every advantage going into yesterday's game, which meant Stanford had nothing to lose as it went from 41-point underdog to 1-point victor. The Cardinal defense hit quarterback John David Booty with four interceptions, four sacks, and a fractured finger in the 24-23 loss that broke USC's 35-game home win streak, reports the Chronicle.

Stanford trailed through most of the game, relying on two big drives and several devastating USC turnovers to come back at the last minute. In his first college start, Cardinal quarterback Tavita Pritchard threw the winning touchdown with 49 seconds remaining, and Bo McNally shut down hopes of a final Trojan field goal with an interception in the final seconds.
